As in years past, residents of Hamilton Harbour and visitors alike continue to enjoy the recreational opportunities the marsh presents during the winter. Here, at the Princess Point boat launch, one can find both young and old lacing up their skates and heading out onto the vast frozen marsh for a game of hockey or ice skating; often residents will establish a hockey tournament if the winter has been particularly favourable for icy conditions. The marsh is also the ideal location to set up a game of curling or to enjoy the beautiful scenery. The marsh is owned and managed by the Royal Botanicals Gardens. During the winter months, they regularly report on ice conditions and warn the public when conditions become unsafe.
