This location represents the mouth of Grindstone Creek. The creek is 99km2 in size and supplies 14% of the water flowing into Hamilton Harbour. A portion of the creek area is covered by Carolinian forest, a relatively rare but incredibly biodiverse vegetation zone covering only 1% of Canada; Halton Region denotes the most northern limit of the Carolinian forests in Southern Ontario.
